GitHub's official CLI: manage pull requests, issues, releases and Actions workflows from the terminal. Most commands support --json output that agents can parse, and an official agent skill is available. Run gh auth login first.

GitHub's official MCP server: lets agents read and write repositories and code, manage issues and pull requests, and check Actions workflows and code-scanning alerts. Use the hosted remote server or run it locally in Docker; needs a personal access token or OAuth.

Sets up an isolated workspace before feature work: uses the agent's built-in worktree tool when available, otherwise falls back to git worktree, then installs dependencies and runs baseline tests to confirm a clean start. From Superpowers.

Git commit commands: /commit writes messages in the repo's style, /commit-push-pr branches, commits, pushes and opens a PR in one step (needs the gh CLI), and /clean_gone removes local branches deleted on the remote. Official Anthropic plugin.

Official MCP reference server for local Git repos: view status and diffs, stage and commit, create and switch branches, and search the commit log by date. Written in Python and runs with uvx; still in early development.

AI pair programming in your terminal: builds a repo map of the whole codebase, auto-commits changes to git, works with Claude, DeepSeek, OpenAI and almost any other model including local ones, and can run lint and tests after edits.

Connects GitHub's official remote MCP server to manage issues and PRs, review code, search repos and call the GitHub API from Claude Code. Requires GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN.

Connects GitLab's official remote MCP server (beta) so Claude can work with repos, merge requests, CI/CD pipelines, issues and wikis on GitLab.com. MCP access must be enabled on the top-level group, with browser OAuth. In Anthropic's official plugin marketplace.

Detects hardcoded passwords, API keys and tokens in Git repos, files and stdin, and can run as a pre-commit hook or GitHub Action to block leaks. Now feature-frozen with security fixes only, as the author has moved on to Betterleaks.

Version datasets and models the way Git versions code: data lives in remote storage like S3 or GCS while versions are tracked in your Git repo. Also offers reproducible pipelines and local experiment tracking, rerunning only the steps affected by a change.

Multi-language git hook manager: declare formatting, lint, secret scanning and other hooks in .pre-commit-config.yaml to run automatically before each commit, or have the agent self-check with pre-commit run --all-files before committing.

GitHub's official terminal coding agent, sharing its harness with the Copilot coding agent and shipping with the GitHub MCP built in. Work with repos, issues and PRs in natural language, approving each action before it runs. Requires a Copilot subscription.

Git worktree manager (wt) built for running multiple AI agents in parallel: create, switch and clean up worktrees by branch name, and spin up a worktree and launch Claude in one command. Supports hooks, LLM-generated commit messages and one-step merges.

Manages multiple Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and Aider sessions in parallel from one terminal: each task gets its own git worktree, can run in the background, and changes are reviewed before merging. Requires tmux and gh.

From Trail of Bits: reviews PRs, commits or diffs from a security angle, tracing history with git blame, estimating blast radius by caller count and checking test coverage gaps, then writes a Markdown review report.

Converts and two-way syncs Jupyter notebooks with plain Python scripts or Markdown, so agents can edit research and teaching notebooks like ordinary text and diffs stay readable. Needs a local Python environment; install with pip.

Creates or updates a pull request description that explains why the change exists in one sentence, flags up to three things to note, and outlines the implementation with diff-style file, component and call trees. Uses the GitHub CLI; runs only when invoked by name.

Microsoft's official Azure DevOps MCP server: query and act on work items, repos, pull requests, build pipelines, test plans and wikis. Sign in with a Microsoft account that has access on first use; Microsoft recommends the no-install remote version instead.

Community-maintained GitLab MCP server: manage projects, merge requests, issues, pipelines, wikis and releases, with support for self-hosted instances and a read-only mode. Needs a GitLab personal access token or OAuth.

Manages stacked branches and dependent pull requests with the gh stack GitHub CLI extension: splits work into layered branches with one PR each, then handles push, submit, sync, rebase and merge, using flags that keep commands non-interactive for agents. Official GitHub skill.

Before tool calls run, blocks destructive Git and file commands (git reset --hard, rm -rf) and access to sensitive files like SSH keys and .env. Parses command semantics, so bash -c wrappers are caught too. Works with Claude Code, Codex and other coding CLIs; needs Node.js 18+.

Skills Sentry's engineering team uses itself: code review, bug finding, security review, writing commits and PRs, and iterating on a PR until CI passes. Maintained by Sentry; some skills follow its internal conventions.

Command-line client for Linear: list, search, create and update issues and projects, create Git branches from issues and open PRs, with a bundled skill for agents. Needs a Linear account and an API key to log in; community-built, not from Linear.

Greptile's official AI code review plugin: view and address review comments on GitHub or GitLab PRs, review the current branch before opening a PR, and search your team's knowledge base and coding standards. Needs a Greptile account (OAuth, free tier available) and Node locally.
